Release of Your Lab Results

Version 2.0, as of 17 October 2026. This version replaces the previous, unversioned text.

For your lab results to reach your Aniva account, we need two declarations from you. Part A is your consent to the processing of your health data. Part B releases the laboratory physicians from medical confidentiality towards Livy Health GmbH. The two are legally different, so they are kept separate. This page explains what they mean and what they do not mean.

The most important point first

No physician at Aniva reviews your results. Your report is produced by the physicians of the laboratory that analyses your sample, and they are responsible for it. We show you your values with the laboratory's reference ranges and explain in general terms what a marker measures. This is not a diagnosis, not an assessment of your values and not medical advice.

If you want to know what your results mean for you, talk to your GP or a specialist. This applies especially to values outside the reference range. If you have acute symptoms, do not contact us. Call the German out-of-hours medical service on 116 117 or, in an emergency, 112.

1. Who is responsible

Livy Health GmbH, trading as Aniva, Kolonnenstraße 8, 10827 Berlin, Germany. Charlottenburg Local Court, HRB 272567 B. Managing directors: Jan Clemens Hecker, Noah Eliah Immanuel Petermann. Email: hello@anivahealth.com

We have two roles. We commission the laboratory to analyse your sample and receive your report on your behalf. We are also a controller in our own right under Art. 4(7) GDPR for displaying your report on the Aniva platform. We are not a laboratory, not a medical practice and not a healthcare provider.

2. The laboratories

Your sample is analysed by one of the following laboratories. Which one depends on the test you ordered and how your sample was collected. The laboratory is named on your report.

  • MVZ Labor Dr. Quade & Kollegen GmbH, Hugo-Eckener-Straße 45, 50829 Köln. Laboratory analysis and report.
  • MVZ Düsseldorf-Centrum GbR (ZOTZ|KLIMAS), Immermannstraße 65 A, 40210 Düsseldorf. Laboratory analysis and report. Orders reach it through Gen me GmbH, Immermannstraße 65 A, 40210 Düsseldorf, which receives the order data needed for this and is a controller in its own right for that purpose.
  • MNB Labor GmbH (LabClinic), Am Mühlenberg 10, 14476 Potsdam. Laboratory analysis and report, also as a specialist laboratory for individual parameters from other laboratories.
  • BIOMES Analytics GmbH, Schwartzkopffstraße 1, 15745 Wildau. Microbiome analysis.

A laboratory may pass individual parameters on to another specialist laboratory. The laboratory first commissioned then remains responsible and combines the partial results. Your declarations also cover these partial results. On request, we will tell you every laboratory involved in your order.

3. Which data are involved

  • Identification data: name, date of birth, sex (the laboratory needs it for the right reference ranges) and the identifier used to match your sample.
  • Order data: order and sample number, collection date, collection method and the parameters ordered.
  • Sample details, where the laboratory needs them for the analysis, for example collection time or fasting status.
  • Result data: measured values, units, reference ranges, laboratory comments and notes on sample quality.

These are health data within the meaning of Art. 9(1) GDPR.

4. Before you declare: voluntary and revocable at any time

  • Both declarations are voluntary.
  • You can withdraw either declaration at any time, independently of the other and without giving reasons, for example by email to hello@anivahealth.com. Withdrawal takes effect for the future. Processing carried out before then remains lawful (Art. 7(3) GDPR).
  • Without both declarations, the laboratory may not send us your report, and we cannot provide your results through Aniva.
  • After a withdrawal, we inform the laboratories involved. Analyses already carried out are not undone, and services already provided remain payable. A withdrawal does not cancel your membership. Our Terms govern cancellation.
  • The laboratories keep their own medical records for the periods required by law. A withdrawal towards us does not change that.

5. Part A: Consent to the processing of your health data

I expressly consent

  1. to Livy Health GmbH sending the commissioned laboratory, and for orders to MVZ Düsseldorf-Centrum also Gen me GmbH, the data needed to match my sample and carry out the analysis,
  2. to the laboratory sending my report to Livy Health GmbH, and
  3. to Livy Health GmbH storing my report in my Aniva account, displaying it to me, showing my values over time and adding general explanations that are not tailored to me.

I understand that no physician at Aniva reviews or assesses my results. The legal basis is Art. 9(2)(a) in conjunction with Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR. I can withdraw this consent at any time with effect for the future.

6. Part B: Release from medical confidentiality

Why we need this: The physicians at the laboratory are bound by medical confidentiality, which is protected under German criminal law (Section 203 StGB). Livy Health GmbH is not a medical provider and not part of any treatment. The laboratory may therefore only give us your report if you expressly release the laboratory physicians from confidentiality towards us. Part A does not replace this.

I release the physicians of the laboratories named in section 2, including any specialist laboratory to which one of them passes individual parameters, from medical confidentiality towards Livy Health GmbH, to the extent that they send Livy Health GmbH reports on my Aniva orders or communicate with it about these orders, for example about sample queries, follow-up requests or the notification of critical values.

I do not release them towards anyone else, and results from other treatments are not covered. I understand that this release does not mean my results will be assessed by a physician at Aniva, and that I can withdraw it at any time, independently of Part A.

7. What these declarations do not cover

  • Genetic testing. The German Genetic Diagnostics Act (GenDG) applies to it. Results of genetic testing are not covered by Part A or Part B.
  • Other purposes. Research, model training, disclosure to employers or insurers and third-party advertising are not covered. These would require a separate consent.
  • Medical advice. Sending and displaying your results is not a diagnosis or a treatment recommendation and does not replace a consultation with a physician.

8. Further information

How else we process your data, which service providers we use, whether data leave the EU and how long we keep them is set out in our Privacy Policy. It also describes your rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability and objection, and your right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority. We protect your data in line with Art. 32 GDPR.
