Home-Sampling

In one sentence

Home-Sampling means the customer collects the sample at home and posts it to the laboratory, without an appointment or a draw location. It is the collection model behind most direct-to-consumer testing in Europe.

Home-Sampling means a customer receives a kit by post, collects the sample at home and sends it back to a laboratory. There is no appointment and no draw location, which is why brands with customers in many different places choose it.

The clinical part is only half of the work, because the model needs kit assembly, return shipping, instructions in the right language and a way to connect the returned sample to the right order. Aniva offers an at-home kit as one of six collection methods, and every status change is reported to partner systems by a signed webhook.

Ask who owns each operational step, because the answer is rarely obvious.

  • Who assembles and ships the kits, and who answers a customer who cannot collect?
  • Which languages are the instructions printed in, and who approves that wording?
  • How is the returned sample connected to the order and to the person who collected it?
  • Which events does the supplier report while a sample is with the postal service?

In this glossary, Testkit covers what the customer receives, Fulfillment explains who packs and sends it, and Präanalytik describes the handling rules that decide whether a returned sample can be analysed.
