Befund

In one sentence

Befund is the German word for the finished laboratory report, meaning the measured values, the reference ranges and any comment from the laboratory, and it is the document your customer treats as the product.

A Befund, the finished laboratory report, contains the measured values, the units, the reference ranges and any remark the laboratory adds. In German practice it is a formal medical record, so its wording and its structure are not open marketing space.

This document is the moment your whole supply chain becomes visible to one person, because the customer never sees the courier, the analyser or the accreditation certificate. Aniva's white-label customer dashboard gives a plain-language explanation per marker, a trend view and a customer-facing PDF, in German and English.

A supplier that returns raw values and nothing else is handing you the work of writing every explanation yourself, which is a real cost you should price before signing.

  • Ask whether your logo and your wording are on the report your customer opens.
  • Ask which languages the report is available in for each market you sell into.
  • Ask which laboratory is named as responsible on the document itself.
  • Ask what the customer is told when a value is outside the reference range.

In this glossary, Referenzbereich explains the range printed beside every value, Biomarker covers the single measurements the report contains, and Time-to-Result covers how long your customer waits for it.

This glossary entry is general information, not medical advice, and it is not intended to diagnose, treat or rule out any condition. Discuss your own results with a clinician who knows your history.
